LOT 326 US ARMY M-35 PULLOVER IN MUD DYED BROWN
The M-35 Pullover draws reference from the brown jumpers considered to be the origin of CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) denim pullovers. Remarkably, despite the turbulent backdrop of war and the Great Depression, this design remained virtually unchanged for nearly 30 yearsâa rare example of enduring functional wear. It is believed that the brown dye used at the time was derived from logwood because of shortages of indigo during World War I. Drawing inspiration from this historical context, each piece is garment-dyed by hand using natural Japanese dyeâspecifically, mud. The entire process is done by hand, resulting in one-of-a-kind texture and hue. The buttons are custom-made, featuring a subdued design achieved by removing the âUS ARMYâ lettering from vintage military buttons, resulting in a more refined, understated finish.
- 100% cotton.
- Hand wash separately, line dry.
- Made in Japan.
